An Indian Tea and Illustrated Book Talk with Sujata Massey, The Widows of Malabar Hill

Sujata Massey's new novel is set in 1920s India. Perveen Mistry, Bombay's first female lawyer, is investigating a suspicious will on behalf of three Muslim widows living in full purdah when the case takes a turn toward the murderous. Inspired in part by the woman who made history as India's first female attorney, The Widows of Malabar Hill brings us an atmospheric new historical mystery with a captivating heroine. Sujata Massey is the author of the Agatha and Macavity Award-winning Rei Shimura novels set in Japan.

Tea and Indian snacks will be served.

Book sales provided by the Ivy Bookshop.

This was everything a book talk should be: fascinating, informative, warm and funny, with great photos, too. And, of course, Sujata Massey dropped a number of hints to entice her audience to read her new book. I was thrilled to hear from someone whose work I admire greatly and look forward to getting into The Widows of Malabar Hill. Kudos, Sujata!
