One of the outstanding leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and, since 1987, a U.S. Representative from Georgia, John Lewis is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Lincoln Medal, the John F. Kennedy "Profiles in Courage" Lifetime Achievement Award, the NAACP Spingarn Medal, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He is the author of March: Book One; Across That Bridge: Life Lessons and a Vision for Change; and Walking With the Wind: A Memoir of a Movement.
