Audrey Hepburn rocketed to stardom and an Oscar in her role as Princess Anne, bored by the demands of a diplomatic tour that lands her in Rome and wanting to escape from her responsibilities. Running away from her staff, she meets an American journalist who gives her a personal tour of the city to get a scoop for his news service. Romance blooms along the way, with a star-crossed ending. The screenplay was written by then blacklisted Dalton Trumbo. It's an elegant film, with humor.
