"New Roots" is a 50-minute documentary by Exsul Van Helden about the challenges faced by female immigrants and refugees who have come to the United States and find themselves living between cultures.

Women from China, Serbia, Senegal, Colombia, Russia, Lebanon and Vietnam share their experiences and feelings about assimilation, values, child-rearing, and being foreign-born in contemporary American society.

The film's director, Exsul Van Helden, will lead the post-screening discussion.
