Researching Your Family History at Maryland Repositories
Most genealogists are familiar with the big three Maryland repositories; however, there is often interesting and useful material to be found throughout the state, at institutions both large and small. Join Mary Mannix, Maryland Room Manager of the C. Burr Artz Public Library of the Frederick County Public Libraries, as she provides an overview of these types of collections and how to seek them out.
Mannix has been active in the Maryland local history community since 1985. Prior to her employment at Frederick County Public Libraries, a position she has held since 1998, she was the Library Director of the Howard County Historical Society. She was the 2011 winner of ALA’s Genealogical Publishing Company Award for service to the profession. She teaches genealogy librarianship at the University of Maryland and public history courses at Hood College.
