Baltimore has a strong heritage of Civil Rights activism. Black Baltimore ministers organized one of the first Civil Rights organizations in the country, the Mutual United Brotherhood of Liberty, in 1885. Baltimore activists were present and contributed to the creation of the major national Civil Rights organizations, and were on the forefront of combating residential, employment, voting, and education segregation practices.

Baltimore historian, Bradley Alston, will provide a comprehensive overview of the exciting story of Baltimore’s Civil Rights history of combating discrimination in residential housing, employment, voting and education.
