Belle's father, the inventor, becomes lost in the woods and she sets out to save him. He ends up in the castle of the Beast, a selfish young man cursed by a sorceress. The townspeople, led by Gaston -- who wants Belle for his wife -- storm the castle to destroy the monster where Belle stayed to save her father. The friendship that develops between her and the Beast blossoms to love, breaking the spell cast over the Beast.
