Do you know...

if the original US Constitution said everyone can vote for president?  It didn't. It gave states control of voting rights.

what the 3 "Voting Rights Amendments" are?  Fifteenth for Black men's suffrage (1870), Nineteenth for women's suffrage (1920), and Twenty-Sixth for eighteen-year-olds (1971)

what they have in common and why they're useful?  The three amendments changed the Constitution to standardize basic voting rights for citizens across state lines.

how everyone votes in America? There is no one way to vote. It varies from state to state.

if there is a cutoff before Election Day to register in Maryland? You can register to vote when you get to your local polling place on Election Day!

When we know how and why we got to vote—and who didn’t, we can choose what we hope for the future of voting rights.

As part of Pratt's ongoing support for voters and voting in the November 5 election, we're sharing an introduction to the struggle for voting rights in the US.

You'll also learn the hows and wheres of voting on Tuesday, November 5, from League of Women Voters member Paige Bacon.
