Dare to try your hand at constructing an edible masterpiece this spooky season? The Enoch Pratt Free Library is welcoming haunted gingerbread creations for display and public voting at the historic Central Library!
Individuals or teams of up to four members maximum are invited to submit a completed entry, which will be on view the weekend before Halloween (Friday, October 25 at Final Fridays: Spirits and Spirits and on Saturday, October 26). Library staff and visitors will vote for winners in the following categories:
- The Golden Ghost (Best in Show)
- #1 Trick (Spookiest House)
- #1 Treat (Cutest House)
- Most Creative
- Librarian’s Choice
Winners will be contacted via email after voting has wrapped, and will receive a haunted trophy and gift card prize. Team registration is required as space is limited. Please email the Program & Outreach office at events@prattlibrary.org or call (410) 396-5394 to register to compete. Drop off will be scheduled for Thursday, October 24 or Friday, October 25. Slots will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Not interested in competing but would like to view these ghoulish creations? Visit the Central Library on Saturday, October 26 to vote for your favories, or join us at a family-friendly workshop to create your own Halloween gingerbread house using graham crackers. Materials will be provided and all abilities are welcome. Please register for the workshop.
