Wayne Johnson graduated from Frederick Douglas Senior High School in Baltimore City.  There he majored in music and was a member of the marching and concert bands.  He attended Morgan State University as a music major – drums and percussion instruments.  At Morgan he was a member of all of the schools performing groups.  In 1970 he formed the performing group, Counterpoint, an R&B performing group that also played blues and jazz.  Wayne Johnson has been affiliated with Contemporary Arts Inc. since 1997.  He is responsible for the technical aspects of all performances.  He has been the Drum/Percussion instructor at the SAX: Summer Music and Dance Camp Program since 1999.   In 2008 he provided Drum/Percussion instruction to participants at the new camp in Columbia, Maryland, Summer Music Arts Academy.
