Maryland on Vacation: Unwinding in the Free State, 1875-1952

When did Marylanders start taking vacations? Where did they go? How did they get there? Using postcards, steamboat and train schedules, resort brochures, and photographs, this program explores the ways that Marylanders of different races and social strata found to take breaks from work routines. The program also examines the social mores that shaped vacations for Marylanders.

Presented by staff from the Maryland Department, Central Library/State Library Resource Center.
