Come meet Baltimore City native Morgan K. Martin as she reads from from her first book, "God Went To Art School."

This book is a collection of poetry about evolving, love, self, being black, being a girl/woman and the pain and the joy that comes with it. With hints of Nikki Giovanni and spoken word poet Jasmine Mans, these poems have teeth. This compilation of poetry can be used as a manifesto to navigate being a black girl. Martin lays her burdens down at the turn of each page. Each poem invites vulnerability, and releasing any pain that may have been born to us, given to us or shown to us. God Went to Art School takes you on a journey of pushing through, healing, remembering and a nuance to no longer sit on your hands.

About the Author:

Morgan K. Martin is a Baltimore City native and this is her first collection of poems. While studying Visual Arts at the Baltimore School for the Arts, at the age of 16 she tapped into another art form, which was poetry. In addition to writing, Morgan is also a visual artist, with a keen eye for detail and a talent for capturing emotions through her work. Her art often complements her poetry, creating a rich and multi-dimensional experience for her audience.
