The 2023 Mencken Day Memorial lecture will be delivered by journalist DeWayne Wickham. Mr. Wickham is the founding dean of the School of Global Journalism & Communication at Morgan State University and currently the public editor of the Baltimore Banner.
Mr. Wickham has previously worked at the Baltimore Sun, U.S. News & World Report, Black Enterprise magazine, CBS News, BET News and USA TODAY, where he wrote a nationally-syndicated opinion column for 30 years.
He is the author of three books - "Woodholme, A Black Man's Story of Growing Up Alone"; "Bill Clinton and Black America" and "Fire At Will"and is also a founding member and former president of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Free parking vouchers are available to program attendees who park at the Franklin Street Garage (15 W. Franklin Street).
