As one of Baltimore's favorite and emerging published essayists Alanah Davis will take attendees of this FREE Enoch Pratt Library workshop through a series of prompts related to this year's One Maryland One Book selection, The Book of Delights: Essays by Ross Gay. Book of Delights is a collection of genre-defying lyric essays and they serve as a reminder to us all to take time to find more delights and hope in our lives. 

Aspiring and established writers will approach the themes/prompts of:

The brief structure of an Essay
Nostalgia, best defined by the writers themselves.
What delights you about those nostalgic moments
What disgusts you, What has delighted or disgusted you in the last year
What emotions are you committed to finding in the next year?
What's tender about what you delight in, or don't?

Alanah Nichole Davis is a mother, essayist, columnist, cultural worker, and philanthropist from The Bronx, NY based in Baltimore MD. Davis earned her Master of Arts in Social Design at Maryland Institute College of Art in 21’ and is affectionately referred to as Baltimore’s Godmother for her ability to foster, support, love, and build everything she touches. Davis is a Leslie King Hammond Graduate Fellow a 2020 Maryland Delaware and DC Press Association awardee and a 2021 recipient of the Fred Lazarus Leadership for Social Change award. Her written witticisms surrounding love, race, womanhood, and being a human have gone viral online in perfect millennial fashion and are also in print to match her old soul.
