Opera on the Avenue Preview

Join Opera Baltimore for a performance and presentation inspired by African-American opera singer Anne Wiggins Brown, the first Bess in Gershwin’s iconic opera, Porgy and Bess. Ms. Brown was born and raised in Old West Baltimore, where she received her formative musical training.

This performance is a preview of ‘Opera on the Avenue’, Opera Baltimore’s October 8, 2022 event hosted with Arch Social Community (ASC) Network. ‘Opera on the Avenue’ will culminate in an all-day festival around the Arch Social Club, with musical performances, food trucks, vendors, activities for children, and a multi-media installation inside the ASC.  There will be a world premiere concert that evening, focusing on Anne Brown and her legacy in today’s world.
