Save a story of someone you love or a history you would love to know. Learn how to capture an oral history interview from start to finish, with hands-on practice.

The program will introduce you to the skills you'll need for high-quality interviews.

  • Choose your narrator and goals
  • Prepare questions
  • Master effective interview techniques
  • Protect your narrator’s right to privacy and dignity
  • Know production methods and equipment to record, preserve, and share your interviews
  • Practice interviewing other participants hands-on with a Pratt Oral History Digital Audio Kit
  • Review oral history interviews of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, and civil rights activist Gloria Richardson
