In celebration of Banned Books, watch and discuss the 1956 film Storm Center (1956) starring Bette Davis. Produced at the height of the Red Scare, widowed librarian Alicia Hull (Bette Davis) becomes the center of a McCarthyist firestorm when she refuses to remove from her library The Communist Dream, a book seen by her town council as incendiary anti-American propaganda.
Bill Barry will introduce the movie and will facilitate the discussion .
Banned Books Week is October 1-7.
