Session I: Introduction to Tea 101
The tea classes will start with a journey into the tea plant itself. Participants will take away a thorough ‘behind-the-scenes’ understanding of tea from production to taste. The complexities of tea are endless; from the appearance of the leaves, the aroma, the liquor, to the flavor, it sometimes seems as though there are hardly enough words to describe the nuances you’re experiencing! In this workshop, we will overview the various tea types and identify typical factors that affect quality and characteristics. We will delve into the techniques and terminology used to unlock the wide-ranging profiles. Finally, we will brew and taste 4-6 types of tea. This workshop provides a solid foundation for the rest of the workshops in the series.
Session II: Green Teas
Participants will need: Introduction to Tea 101 (recommended, not required)
Don’t think you like green tea? We hear this A LOT! Join us to explore green teas and unlock the mysteries of selecting and properly preparing them for maximum enjoyment. Participants will enjoy the full sensory experience of tasting 4-6 green teas that have been selected from our menu of over 40 teas. The presenter will share background information about each tea. This workshop provides information on the delicate art of tea tasting and helps to expand the participants repertoire.
