Jamila Minnicks will discuss her debut novel that follows Alice Young, a Black woman in New Jessup, Alabama, and her efforts to support the burgeoning civil rights movement in the late 1950s.
Jamila Minnicks’ writing has been published in several publications, including CRAFT Literary Magazine and Catapult. Her debut novel, Moonrise Over New Jessup, received the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction.
