About this Event
Celebrate Year of the Woman with local memoirists. Join us for an evening featuring Sheri Booker, Gwen Van Velsor, and Elisa Estrella.
Presented in partnership with the Ivy Bookshop.
Gwen Van Velsor has written two memoirs. "Follow That Arrow," published in 2016, detailed her experience walking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in Spain. Her current memoir, "Freedom Warrior," focuses on solo parenting her toddler while her husband who is in the National Guard was on deployment.
Elisa Estrella's work has appeared in the Baltimore Fishbowl and the Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival. She has completed her MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. Her memoir, "Luz," shares the story of growing up American-Dominican in Brookly, NY in the 1970s.
Sheri Booker is a writer, poet, spoken-word artist, photographer and teacher. She has an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College. Her memoir, "Nine Years Under," is about coming of age in a black funeral home in Baltimore.
