Writers LIVE! Kevin Powell

Acclaimed author Kevin Powell will reflect on his thirty year career.  The author of numerous books and essays that range from the Black Lives Matter movement and the COVID-19 pandemic to profiles of Tupac Shakur, Aretha Franklin, and Stacey Abrams, will also examine his personal struggles and professional growth over the past three decades.  Kevin Powell will be joined in conversation by author and sports writer Dave Zirin.

Kevin Powell is an author, journalist, filmmaker and activist.  He is the author of fifteen books, including his recent poetry collection Grocery Shopping with My Mother

Dave Zirin is a sports writer for the Nation magazine.  His many books focus on the politics of sports, including What’s My Name, Fool?: Sports and Resistance in the United States and The Kaepernick Effect: Taking a Knee, Changing the World.
