In his debut memoir, Martin McNair questions the culture behind college football and the safety precautions taken by athletic programs to protect their players. In the spring of 2018, his son Jordan, a sophomore offensive lineman with the University of Maryland football team, collapsed during preseason conditioning. Fifteen days later, Jordan died from complications of a heat-related injury. McNair details his journey of raising a child in the world of youth sports, and the harrowing trauma he suffered when his son lost his life.
