Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Wesley Lowery will discuss how racial progress in the United States has historically been followed by a prejudiced backlash. The author relays that the election of President Obama continued this trend with the Trump presidency and a rise in white supremacist violence. Wesley Lowery will be joined in conversation by bestselling author D. Watkins.
Wesley Lowery was part of a Washington Post team that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 2016 for their coverage of fatal police shootings in the United States. He is the author of They Can’t Kill Us All: Ferguson, Baltimore, and a New Era in America’s Racial Justice Movement.
D. Watkins is the author of five books, editor-at-large for Salon, and a University of Baltimore lecturer.
