YA Writers Live! Lamar Giles

Please join us for a morning with author Lamar Giles to celebrate the release of his new young adult title The Getaway. The novel follows young Jay, who lives in Karloff Country and works at a vacation resort that's unknowingly sold shares to the rich and powerful. As time passes, the escape the resort used to provide slowly erodes and reveals a plan that Jay and his friends need to thwart. The book forces readers to ask what is more dangerous: "the monster you know in your home or the unknown nightmare outside the walls?"

Lamar Giles writes for teens and adults across multiple genres, with work
appearing on numerous Best Of lists each and every year. He is the author of
the acclaimed novels Fake ID, Endangered, Overturned, Spin, The Last Last-
Day-of-Summer, Not So Pure and Simple, and The Last Mirror on the Left as
well as numerous pieces of short fiction. He is a founding member of We Need
Diverse Books and resides in Virginia with his wife.

Lamar Giles will be in conversation with Pratt staff to discuss this novel, his career, and his writing, including a Q&A portion toward the end.
